About urban/suburban trains
Urban/Suburban trains (in Russian – “Электричка”, spell “e-lek-‘tritch-kah”) are typical form of public transportation. Usually it runs to suburbs, but there are some routes to other cities. So beware of sleeping in trains, because you may go far away by them.
In trains of Rostov you can buy your ticket on stations or pay to conductor directly in the train, there is no difference in fares. It’s better if you have exact amount to pay. The currency is not accepted.
In all types of transport in Russia it’s a common practice to give your seat to elderly persons or women of any age.
